Your Experience:

We take great pride in taking care of our clients. If you have any concerns, comments or questions before or after your massage about any part of your visit we encourage you to let us know by email or by telephone 4700603/4700369 / 98510-89169 (Bhabi Sharma) and cell no 98510-69150 (Raj)

Will a single massage help me feel better?

Yes and no.  For a number of physical and stress related problems, massage can have an immediate impact.  Every day we have clients who come in stressed out, with a sore neck, tight back, etc. and leave feeling a lot better than when they came in. But if you have you ever had the experience of getting a massage and not noticing an immediate difference in your body after, you are not alone.

Sometimes the effects of the session take time to manifest.  You may walk out feeling that you still have the issue you came in with but when you wake up the next day it's resolved.

But sometimes you won't notice a significant difference, even after a day or more.  That happens because some of the positive effects of massage are cumulative.  In other words, the more massage you get, the more benefit it generally has.

While many studies (see why you need us) have been done showing the benefits of massage to treat a wide range of ailments, the problem with this research is that the studies follow participants over a course of many massages, usually during a period of eight weeks or more.  Unfortunately, most people can't or won't commit to a series of eight or more treatments.

Instead, they come in for a single session and expect to get the same results as if they had been coming in regularly.  While you can very definitely get results from a single session, you will only get the maximum benefit from massage if you come in regularly.  That doesn't mean you have to come in weekly.  Even a monthly or every six week treatment can be effective in turning massage into a regular part of your life.

We realize that not everyone has the time or inclination to make massage more than an occasional event.  We are just as happy to welcome clients who come in once a year as those who visit more frequently.  We just want you to have realistic expectations as to the benefits if you chose to visit less often.

If you do decide to become a regular client please take advantage of our membership offer (Please ask in reception for this).  They are a great way to make your sessions more affordable per treatment.

I've seen ads for places charging Nrs. 800 to 1000/- for massage, why are you more expensive?

Most of the lower priced centers have no shower room, no locker facilities, cramped massage rooms, and Spartan decor.  While The Real Therapy and Beauty Point offers Massage Therapy with Beauty Saloon services in a same block with a nice reception and waiting room, fully air-conditioned rooms, clean and hygienic atmosphere, high quality towels and amenities, and most importantly, attracting and keeping the highest quality therapists (by paying them high salary) all adds up.

By way of comparison though, our rates are considerably less than most spas in Kathmandu established in 5 star hotels. With our membership offers our rates are very much affordable for locals and resident foreigners. While those places offer larger facilities and additional spa treatments, if you are looking to get the best possible massage and beauty services in a warm and inviting atmosphere we think you'll find us the best value.

I've seen massages at other locations for upwards of Nrs. 4000/- an hour.  Why are they so much more expensive?

In the case of the larger spas in 5 star hotels in Kathmandu, what you are almost always paying for is their facilities.  Spas have become extremely expensive to build and maintain and competition has made it a game of who can "one-up" who in over-the-top decor. We love great spa environments ourselves, and they can be wonderful places to spend a day. But you are generally not going to get your money's worth in the quality of the massage there.

What Treatment Style Would Be Best For Me?
 Our very popular massage sessions are Ayurvedic and Trekkers Therapy. If you are one who is leaving for or has returned from trekking, it is nice to enroll by Trekkers Therapy which is created for trekkers especially by our Therapists. If you are in the mood of relaxing and willing maximum comfort during your session then Ayurvedic Massage Therapy would be the best. After a day sight seeing, many would love to enroll by Foot Massage or Head, Neck and Shoulder Massage Therapy. Choice is yours.

The key is to communicate with our front desk staff when calling and your massage therapist when you come in so we know who to put you with and how to structure your session once you arrive.  For example, if you like Traditional Thai Stretching work or specifically want a therapist trained in Shiatsu, let us know ahead of time.

What Is Your Facility Like?
We are located in a very center of Thamel which is a most happening place for travelers/tourists in
Kathmandu. All the famous and big hotels in Thamel like Kathmandu Guest House, Hotel Marsyangdi, Hotel Vaishali to small popular guest houses like Hotel Red Planet, Hotel North field, Holy Lodge etc are within 1 minute walking distance by Real Therapy and Beauty Point.

All the therapy and beauty services will be provided in a same complex and 25 people can enjoy the services at the same time.

If you are looking for a big, over the top spa experience we are not your place. But if you want to enjoy what our clients consistently call the best massage parlor and beauty saloon in Thamel  in a warm atmosphere with the personal touch you should have a great visit.

Our retail lobby is stocked with a wide range of oils and other herbal products. We offer 4 changing rooms with seperate lockers for your valuable things and clothes.
If you like your space, you are welcome to change in your room before your session if it is vacant, and for up to 10 minutes after your session has ended.  Our individual steam bath and hot shower is free for those taking Ayurvedic and Trekkers therapy. What do I do before my Massage Therapy?

Enter the reception room leaving your shoes outside (wear clean sandal). Make a payment and get service coupon after filling your personnel profile (only if this is your first session).

Hot/cold towel and a glass of hot water/jasmine tea would be served by that time. Then your therapist would be introduced by the reception person who will lead you to the changing room and locker place. Please switch off your cell phone/pager.

There are personnel steam bath chamber which can be used for free by Ayurvedic/Trekkers massage therapy receiver before or after the massage therapy. As well as hot shower can be taken if one want after oil massage therapy.

Soap, shampoo, fresh towels are provided without any charge.

What Do I Wear?
You will find a towel, t-shirt and a trouser inside your locker. For Ayurvedic and Trekkers therapy takes off your clothes and wrap towel. For Shiatsu or Thai Stretching wear t-shirt and trouser. If you want to wear underwear underneath your towel, you may. If you are more comfortable changing in your room, you are welcome to.

What Do I Do Once I Have Changed?
Once you have changed and locked your belongings in your locker, open the door and you will find your therapist waiting for you. He will show you your room or steam bath chamber or shower room, soap and shampoo. Please walk to your room and lay face down on the table under the top sheet.

What If I am Uncomfortable during My Massage?
The most common reason people have bad massage experiences are because they didn't want to say anything to their therapist during their massage. If you are too hot or cold, the music is too loud or soft, or the touch is too hard or not hard enough, or if you feel uncomfortable in any way, do not hesitate to let your therapist know immediately. All of our tables are equipped with heating pads, and everything from the music volume in the room to the angle of your face rest is adjustable. Your therapist will never be offended if you make a request to turn up the heat, add a blanket, or adjust the table, pressure or music during your session.
A Peaceful Environment:
For the relaxation and enjoyment of all of our clients the entire Center is a cell phone and pager free zone. It's up to you whether you want to talk with your therapist during your massage. Your therapist will not be offended if you let them know you just want to relax quietly. If you choose to talk, thank you for keeping in mind that voices can carry, particularly when in your treatment room or in the hallways outside the rooms.

What if I Need to Cancel?

5. Cancellation policy:

        a) Before 02 hour no refund.

        b) Before 24 hour 50% refund.

        c) 70% refund if earlier than this.

What About Tipping?
This is one of the most frequently asked and perhaps most misunderstood questions we get.  Just like hair stylists, manicurists, or others providing personal services it is customary to tip massage therapists.  Therapists at the Center do not get the full amount of fees collected from clients.  A significant portion of the fees collected goes towards paying for the management of the facility.

The usual tipping range is 10-20% of the regular cost of services.  Please note that gift certificates do not include gratuity and it is still customary to tip your therapist even though someone else paid for your session.

You are welcome to add a tip to your credit card charge at the end of your session and you can leave cash tips for your therapist in special tip envelopes provided at our front desk.

A wide range of people from waitstaff to cab drivers, including massage therapists, rely on tips for a significant portion of their living.  If you are against tipping or feel it doesn't apply to you, we would encourage you to rethink your philosophy before visiting the Center.

What are the contraindications to massage?

A massage will make you feel worse if you are suffering from any contagious or infectious disease no matter how mild it may seem.  If you have a cold, flu or fever DO NOT BOOK a session.  We will be very happy to see you once you are feeling 100% better.

If you have certain other medical conditions, for your health and well-being massage should not be performed or may be restricted.  These are not all obvious, so before booking, please review all of the contraindications to massage below to make certain that none apply to you.

What are the Contraindications to Massage?

Massage is non-invasive, relaxing and natural. It is therefore generally considered a safe treatment for most people. However, there are three types of contraindication: TOTAL, when massage should not be performed at all, LOCAL, when massage can be performed but not over the contraindicated areas and MEDICAL, when massage can only be performed once medical permission has been granted.  The following restrictions are in place to protect your health and well-being.  Thank you for taking them as seriously as we do.

Total Contraindications

When you have any of these conditions, please do not book a massage:

* Fever
* Contagious or infectious diseases, including any cold or flu no

   matter how mild it may seem.
* Under the influence of drugs or alcohol- including prescription

   pain medication
* Recent operations or acute injuries
* Neuritis
* Skin diseases

The therapist can massage but not over any areas affected by:

* Varicose veins
* Undiagnosed lumps or bumps
* Pregnancy
* Bruising
* Cuts
* Abrasions
* Sunburn
* Undiagnosed pain
* Inflammation, including arthritis

If you suffer from any of the following conditions, massage can only take place once it has been approved before your session in writing by your Physician.

* Cardio-vascular conditions (thrombosis, phlebitis, hypertension, heart conditions)
* Any condition already being treated by a medical practitioner
* Oedema
* Psoriasis or eczema
* High blood pressure
* Osteoporosis
* Cancer
* Nervous or psychotic conditions
* Heart problems, angina, those with pacemakers
* Epilepsy
* Diabetes
* Bell's palsy, trapped or pinched nerves
* Gynecological infections

Does a contraindication mean that treatment cannot take place?

Not always. In fact, massage can be very therapeutic for many medical conditions. However, in the above cases it is best to have advice from your physician. Massage therapists, unless they are also qualified doctors, may not, under law, attempt to diagnose a condition.
